Dear Neighbors,
It is a privilege to write to you as the new President of the Powhatan Shores owners Association. Along with the incoming 2026 Board of Directors, I am honored to serve a community that long-term neighbors have called home for years and is an exciting new chapter for those who have recently joined us.
Powhatan Shores is truly a unique gem. As a 50-year-old waterfront neighborhood, we enjoy a lifestyle that is increasingly rare — direct access from our canals to Powhatan Creek, the James River, the Chesapeake Bay, and the world beyond. Whether you are a boater, a kayaker, or simply enjoy the view, our connection to the water defines the spirit of this community.
Because we are a voluntary association, everything you see in our neighborhood is the result of neighbors helping neighbors. From the leadership of the Board to the hands-on maintenance of our park, boat ramp, entrances, and canals, it is our volunteers who keep Powhatan Shores vibrant. These efforts, along with our neighborhood activities and events, are what make this such a special place to live.
Looking Toward the Next 50 Years
2026 is a pivotal year for us. Our goal is simple yet ambitious: to ensure that Powhatan Shores remains a premier waterfront community for another 50 years. To achieve this, the Board is developing a clear plan to focus on our shared infrastructure. Our priorities for this term include:
- Infrastructure Preservation: Executing a long-term maintenance plan for our boat ramp, park playground, and gazebo.
- Water Access: A plan to ensure our canals remain navigable so that every resident continues to have reliable access to the water.
We Need Your Support
These projects are only possible through the support of our residents. Our neighborhood is at its best when we are all engaged. I look forward to seeing you at the park, on the water, or at our next community event as we work together to protect the future of Powhatan Shores.
Warm regards,
Jim Pereira
